Will Musharraf Nixon Out?

The party of assasinated leader Bhutto is preparing articles of impeachment against former coup leader President Musharraf:

Speculation has been mounting that former army chief and firm U.S. ally Musharraf would quit after the coalition government, led by the party of assassinated former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, said last week it planned to impeach him.

The president’s spokesman has insisted Musharraf would not resign but would face the accusations. He dismissed as malicious reports of the president’s imminent resignation and said they were damaging the economy.

He has a lot to answer for:

A coalition team has finished drafting impeachment charges and handed them to the minister of law for scrutiny, said Ahsan Iqbal, a member of the drafting team.

“There is a long list of charges against him … we will file them, by the latest, by Tuesday,” Iqbal told Reuters.

Seeing impeachment go forward in a country recently controlled with an iron fist, in an era of politics where lawbreaking officials seem above the law, is a sharp silver lining.

PUMA Reaches Ron Paul Popularity

According to riverdaughter, the effort to override the voters (Obama won both delegates and the popular vote) and install Hillary Clinton as Presidential candidate is now a movement (emphasis mine):

There are MILLIONS of us.  This is no exaggeration.

The first day that Darragh Murphy opened her doors on PUMAPac, she got 35,000 hits.  That’s ONLINE hits.  There are many, many more people who aren’t internet addicts who we are contacting every day. This movement was sparked by the RBC meeting and took off like wildfire. It was always our intention to use the internet and the media to get our word out.

You just can’t pack more humor into your unintentional statements folks.  PUMAPac is getting ONLINE hits.  In the thousands!  Entitlement Action Clinton fans can rejoice, she now is seeing a wave of online popularity that vaguely approaches Ron Paul before the word got out.  She’s practically the next big thing.

There will be a roll call vote (great, now Hillary will get to see who her percieved enemies are) at the convention.  Hillary Clinton is not going to win, despite her efforts.  If she unseated the elected nominee, there would be enough chaos to give someone as utterly unqualified as possible to become President the boost he needs.  No, what will happen is a close vote in which Obama is declared the nominee.  Meanwhile Hillary’s crass effort to count votes in states where her opponents didn’t campaign or weren’t on the ballot and PUMA’s complaints about the losing the Democratic process will fall flat.  The only thing they will garner is plenty of “serious, hard hitting” articles examining whether or not the Democratic party is falling apart.

It isn’t.  There is simply a tug of war still going on between the two establishment candidates, the one who won, and the one who lost.  And in the fall Obama will win on a hard-won landslide procurred by supporters desperate to avoid the further suffering, violence, and economic downturn that would intensify under a McCain Presidency.

Manhunt vs Abramoff: The Money McCain Keeps

John McCain decided to return the $2,300 personal donation from Johnathan Crutchley, founder of gay cruising service manhunt (Pamela at Pandagon).

McCain has decided to continue working with criminal lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s co-conspirator Ralph Reed (Lindsay at Majikthise).

I’m having trouble running down a dollar amount for the latter, but I’m guessing a Reed run fundraiser will raise a bit more than 2 grand.

The message is clear: “No to Homosexuality, Yes to Corruption”.  Classic Maverick.

O’Reilly’s Internet Cop Wants to Kill Liberals

Bill O’Reilly’s “Internet Cop” has posted death threats against liberals.

Sara at Orcinus has more:

The really funny part of this is that his “cop” is Amanda Carpenter of Townhall.com, a site that recently called Michelle Obama a “race pimp” and said that congressmen who “damage the morale and undermine the military” should be executed as saboteurs. And no, those weren’t comments — those calls came on the front page. You’d think that would pretty much disqualify her as the Amy Vanderbilt in charge of enforcing good manners on blogs — but, y’no, it’s Fox, and reality is what they say it is.

BIll O’Reilly is missing the point:

BOR is, as usual, missing the big story here. It’s no secret anywhere anymore: every national law enforcement and intelligence agency we’ve talked to is bracing for an onslaught of right-wing violence in the months ahead, which will intensify with an Obama win. (We may look back in a few years and realize Knoxville was the opening shot of a much larger wave of domestic terrorism.) The language and logic of that uprising are being worked out in the pages of Amanda Carpenter’s own blog — and yet he’s got her on his show, explaining to America why liberals will be the ones to blame when the shooting starts.

The problem is that where conservatives point to unhinged commenters on liberal sites (even a blog as small as mine gets its far share of violent oddballs), at the very same time mainstream conservative bloggers and news icons are making the sincere argument that liberals ought to be killed.

Now that liberals are being killed by violent conservatives, what do we do?
