Clinton Straight Up Lies (No Joke)

Yes, Hillary Clinton, that paragon of honesty, has straight up lied about the popular vote.  Here’s the grimy details.  Sigh, emphasis mine:

Sen. Hillary Clinton is arguing that she is ahead of rival Sen. Barack Obama when it comes to the popular vote.

“I’m very proud that as of today, I have received more votes by the people who have voted than anyone else,” Clinton said Wednesday, one day after her decisive win in Pennsylvania.

Not so fast, says Obama’s campaign. Clinton’s count includes her wins in Michigan and Florida, but the Democratic presidential candidates agreed not to campaign in those states because they violated party rules by scheduling their contests too early.

Obama didn’t even have his name on the Michigan ballot, so he received no votes from that contest.

“We think that, in the end, if we end up having won twice as many states and having the most votes, then we should be the nominee,” Obama said.

Senator Clinton, what bullshit is this?  Michigan and Florida with either not count, or will have a do-over election in which the running candidates can both compete.  There isn’t a hint of ambiguity here.  What you said was a lie.

  1. I’m not sure that’s a lie. I mean, it is certainly misleading to include Michigan, where, as you note, Obama wasn’t even on the ballot. But is that a lie? Her statement is superficially true–if you include those states, then she is in the lead. If she said “even without Michigan and Florida I am in the lead in the ‘popular’ vote,” then yes that would seem to be a lie as the premises the claim is derived from are known and contrary to the claim. But that isn’t what is happening here. I’m not sure what term, beyond misleading, truly captures the hubris of the claim in question, but lie doesn’t look like the one.

  2. Clinton is leading in the delegate count too – if you count Sen. Obama’s delegate as hers

  3. The best part about this is that while in the campaign in New Hampshire Clinton said that Michigan should not count. She told NH that NH is first because it serves the democratic process to have a tiny state first, so that unknown, unbranded candidates, without $100 million, can be heard, and maybe get momentum. Having Michigan and Florida first would limit the possible candidates to people like her, with name recognition and great wealth.
SO.. this is another lie, told over and over. Hitler said, tell the same lie again and again and the masses will believe anything.
Nowadays we have the recorded statement she made in NH.
So we know that she is spinning MICH and Florida now that she is hopelessly behing on delegates, the actual way this election is conducted, by who wins the most delegates, period.

  4. Hopelessly behind on delegates, she spins to count states which dont count, never did count and in which electioneering didnt take place, as we all know.

She also intends to count Puerto Rico’s primary votes too, although they are not a state and have no electoral college votes at all.

  5. THAT PANTS-SUITED BUBBA BE A STEAMROLLER, BABY – SHE GONNA ROLL RIGHT OVER BO !!!! We’re not packin’ WIMPS and WHINERS like B.O. and his circus side-show, freak-filled, loose cannons – Wright, Ayers and Bitters (sounds like a drink for godsake) which are going to spell a HELLUVA lot more negs for B.O. in the general than any corkscrew snipers may have done for our HILLROD. TH’O DOWN, GIRL, TH’O DOWN !!!!

  6. she is joke. obama and clinton both agree on fl and michigan at that time and now she is trying to pull that now she think they should count it. So if you can’t win by rules then change the rules to suite her, that her motto. Can’t stand her
