Get a grip. Look at the policy positions of the two candidates. They are nearly identical. Now look at the policy differences between McCain and either Democrat. Any strides towards universal health care, reproductive rights, gay rights, sane foreign policy, or sensible economic policy will be dropped flat with McCain at the helm. Supporting McCain if your favorite isn’t the nominee is a gigantically foolish move.
As an Obama supporter, I naturally find Hillary Clinton’s statements that McCain would make a better President than Obama desperate and harmful to whatever principles she’s claiming to uphold this week. But I would never vote for George Bush’s successor John McCain over her.
The Democratic party needs to find a way to make a decision. What we need is for one of the candidates to act like a leader and drop out of the race, or at the very least encourage their supporters to vote for their primary opponent against McCain. Oh, and be sure to tell them why.
