The Only Nobel Endorsed Peace Candidate

He won the Nobel Peace Prize.

We want him to run (thanks Mirth).

Will he run?

  1. So far this year, Al Gore has won an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy and now the Noble Peace Prize; no joke! At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if he also wins the Heisman trophy, the World Series, an Olympic gold medal for wind surfing and the Conney Island hotdog eating championship. One really has to do some serious intellectual gymnastics to find a way to tie “global warming” in with “peace,” but hey, who am I to spoil the party with non-conformist reasoning? So now Gore joins Yasser Arafat, Jimmy Carter and Mohamed El Baradei as Noble “peace” winners. You couldn’t make this stuff up.

  2. I can see Arafat used as a slam against the Noble peace price, but Carter and Baradei?

  3. Gore deserves each of the honors that he has received this year. I am having doubts that he will run for the presidency though I hold out hope.

  4. Rafael: “but Carter and Baradei?”

Baradei: won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 along with the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) for their “efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes and to ensure that nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is used in the safest possible way,” Yet Baradei was responsible for having a lenient approach in dealing with Iran’s nuclear program in light of revelations that Iran had covered up substantial aspects of its nuclear program for nearly two decades, and Iran’s insistence on continuing to develop uranium enrichment capability. Also Eight days before the 2004 U.S. presidential election, ElBaradei informed the UN Security Council of reports by the Iraqi government about 377 tons of missing explosives in Iraq, apparently looted from Al Qa’qaa. The New York Times broke the story the same day. Some pundits referred to the IAEA report as an “October surprise” intended to influence the elections. What became clear, however, is that the Iraqi Minister of Science and Technology had written to ElBaradei on 10 October, reporting the explosives as missing due to theft and looting enabled by the lack of security. Within days after receiving the letter, the IAEA had informed the U.S. mission in Vienna, giving advance warning to the U.S. Government before making the required report to the Security Council. Sounds to me like someone has some small concerns about doing his job properly and throughly.

Carter: Tell Jimmy Carter to give back the Nobel prize. Since the million-dollar Peace Prize was awarded to the former president as an expression of anti-American pique, Carter should politely decline.

Gunnar Berge, chairman of the Nobel committee, said giving the award to Carter “should be interpreted as a criticism of the line that the current administration has taken. . . . It’s a kick in the leg to all that follow the same line as the United States.”

A statement posted on the website of the Carter Center from the former president says “My concept of human rights has grown to include not only the rights to live in peace, but also to adequate health care, shelter, food, and to economic opportunity. I hope this award reflects a universal acceptance and even embrace of this broad-based concept of human rights.”

If it were the case that the Nobel committee had indeed awarded Carter the prize as a celebration of his tireless efforts on behalf of human rights and human dignity, there would be nothing to gainsay. And compared to some of the savages who have received the Nobel prize in the past, Carter seems is arguably not a terrible choice. Only it’s all too clear the Nobel committee meant the prize to be a publicity shot across the bow of the Bush administration.

Lets look at all the lies from Gore and coule you please relate “global Warming and Peace together for me”

Back to fat Al’s little movie of big fibs. A British High Court Judge, Justice Michael Burton has ruled that the movie can no longer be shown in schools unless accompanied by a fact sheet detailing the outright lies and untruths big Al so skillfully presents as uncontested truths.

This of course is a ruling of much needed good sense. Lets not forget Paramount and Jackgreen International, which makes money from the global warming scare offered free DVDs of An Inconvenient Truth to every school in England not to mention other places. A nice piece of propaganda, still brainwashing kids is the hallmark of lying fanatics.

Lets have a look at what Justice Burton ruled to be big fat fibbs:

Gore presents Mt Kilimanjaro’s melting snows as proof of global warming. In fact, the snows are vanishing thanks to local factors, including deforestation.

Gore suggests Antarctica’s ice cover is melting. Most studies says it is increasing or stable.

Gore shows scary graphics of cities drowning in seas that rise 7m, causing millions of refugees. But the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says the seas will rise at worst by 59cm this century.

Gore uses images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests it was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert in this case admitted such one-off events can’t be blamed on warming.

Gore suggests ice-core evidence shows rising CO2 caused temperature rises, which ended the past seven ice ages. In fact, the CO2 rises followed temperature rises by 800 to 2000 years.

Gore claims global warming could stop the Gulf Stream, causing an ice age in Europe. Recent studies deny it.

Gore blames global warming for species losses and coral reef bleaching. The Government couldn’t show evidence to back this claim.

Gore claims a study showed polar bears had drowned because of vanishing ice. The study actually said just four polar bears drowned, and only because of a bad storm.

Gore suggests Greenland’s ice could melt, causing a dangerous rise in sea levels. In fact, Greenland’s ice won’t melt for thousands of years.

Gore shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims this was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert agreed this was not the case.

Gore claims rising seas have forced people to flee Pacific islands to New Zealand. There is no record of any such warming-caused evacuation.

Doesn’t really leave much to the movie now does it…he won’t run, he had his chance and lost…strrike that he the “popular vote” but lost do to the Electorial College.

  5. Fitness,

I guess you’ve arrived. You have a freeper posting now! LOL!

In any event, I’m really happy for Al Gore: he’s been key in helping to raise awareness about the climate crisis and showing the world how small changes in our daily life can make a huge difference.

I sure hope Gore enters the race for president. I’m not happy with HRC and Obama seems to be fading away before our eyes. I think the fix is in and we had better get used to saying President Hillary Clinton.

About Gore’s Nobel, can you even imagine George Bush being nominated? They don’t give out such awards for lying a nation into a war or quadrupling the national debt or nose picking or clearing cedar.

  6. Agree that hope is dimming, although that he hasn’t stated outright that he will not run is in itself hopeful.

That is what Gore is capable of giving us in these desperate times: Hope.
