Obama’s Right, Clinton’s a Jerk, Fox Sucks and Kucinich is Cool

As much as I hate to link to Fox News, all this bull being slung about Obama’s decision not to wear a flag pin on his lapel is irritating.  His criticism of the flag makes me think of all the phony assholes driving suvs with flags, “9/11” and support the troops stickers who vote Republican.  Its a display of group think, not patriotism.  While I do think Obama could think of a clever way to take back the flag, his criticism of what it has become is quite accurate.

Which makes this hysterical littler piece of reporting all the more frustrating.  Here’s Hillary’s take on things (emphasis mine):

Democratic frontrunner Hillary Rodham Clinton told FOXNews.com Thursday night that she sometimes wears a pin to show her patriotism. “Wearing a flag pin, flying the flag, pledging allegiance to the flag, talking about the values that are important to America, teaching your children about what a great nation you have, standing up for those values, speaking out … there’s just so many ways that one can demonstrate patriotism,” Clinton said at a Chicago fundraiser.

That quote makes me want to scratch my eyes out.  It sounds like a damn infomercial for patriotism.

A spokesman for Joe Biden told FOXNews.com that the Delaware senator “always wears a flag pin.” It wasn’t clear whether Dennis Kucinich wears a pin, but a spokeswoman told FOXNews.com that the Ohio congressman does “does carry a mini copy of the Constitution in his pocket.”

In other news, Biden is a cowardly douche.  And Kucinich rocks.  He carries the constitution in his pocket.  Perhaps he should let Bush have a look.

John Edwards, Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson didn’t return calls for comment.

Hell yes they didn’t.  Cause Fox News is a sham.

On the Republican side McCain actually had a good answer:

Republican hopeful John McCain said he doesn’t wear a flag pin on a daily basis. Brooke Buchanan, a spokeswoman for the Arizona senator, said “his record of service to his country shows his dedication.”

A good point.

Other Republican contenders Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul didn’t respond to calls.

Maybe because this just isn’t an issue.  But just like the $400 haircut, the media think they have a buzzworthy story that will garner eyeballs and sell papers.  Instead all they have is yet another reason why purely market driven media organizations suck:  Perceived buzz and potential profit rule the day over relevance and substance.

  1. Because, when you think about it, there’s really nothing more important going on in the world. Thank god FOX News (snicker) is here to keep us updated on this monumental situation – no doubt the rest of the world is on the edge of its seat, waiting to find out how this issue is resolved.

I’m sure the American Media is revered, the world over. As well they should be.

America has really become kind of a joke. I blame the Republicans.

  2. OMG Fucks news actually mentioned Ron Paul….. They must be desperate for a story.
