Vermont Votes to Impeach!

Joining Kucinich and Feingold, the Vermont Senate has told America what they think of Bush and Cheney:

Vermont senators voted Friday to call for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, saying their actions have raised “serious questions of constitutionality.”

Bush and Cheney’s actions in the U.S. and abroad, including in Iraq, “raise serious questions of constitutionality, statutory legality, and abuse of the public trust,” the resolution reads.

The lies that tricked us into Iraq.  Spying on ordinary Americans.  Torture.  Firing and rewarding US Attorneys based on politics.  Graft and no bid contracts.  Cronyism over experience.  The Plame scandal.  An all powerful executive and the abuse of signing statements.  Yeah, they have a lot to answer for.

Advocates were thrilled with the vote.

“I think it’s going to have a tremendous political effect, a tremendous political effect on public discourse about what to do about this president,” said James Leas, a vocal advocate of withdrawing troops from Iraq and impeaching Bush and Cheney.

Let’s get this discourse started!  The Bush administration needs to answer for their crimes.

Vermont just brought us all one step closer to seeing justice served.

  1. Vermont is so progressive! Several states, including my NM, have pursued impeachment just as they are Constitutionally mandated to do in opposition to a runaway federal gov’t, but I believe Vermont is the only one to make it official.

  2. I love the smell of fresh impeachment!
