Kos calls attention to “the most spot-on column on the Fox News debate controversy of any media outlet.”:
Fox cloaks itself in the mantle of objectivity with the nudge-nudge insistence that it—and it alone—provides “fair and balanced” coverage of the news. Then it advances its financial and ideological interests by promoting lurid accusations from conservatives against Democrats, accusations that are routinely debunked later by the mainstream media.
(emphasis mine)
Is there a point at which a line is crossed and reputation for journalistic integrity vanishes? Is it false advertising for a network like Fox to sell itself as a news organization when it functions as a blatant propaganda organ for the right?

Let’s be honest here, Fox works because it’s loud and shiny. If lefty news organizations were louder and shinier (hear that Olbermann?) then maybe they would get the attention they want/need.
Of course, honesty is clearly overrated, so let’s pretend you’re Minnie May, intrepid girl reporter, and you have a new story to tell. Are you going to say it in an intelligent, academic manner? Or are you GONNA BRING THE HEAT AND WING IT, PUSHING IT TO THE EXTREME!?
Either way, the news is going to have a slant (perceived or otherwise), and it’s up to the readers/listeners/viewers to decide what really makes sense. It’s too bad that most people will watch “300″ and go the rest of their lives without even hearing about “the Wind that Shakes the Barley”.
